I received an email from someone claiming to be a former team member at joyent complaining that they're getting the runaround from the 'management team' about some unmet obligations. Obviously the liars at joyent are hardly going to confirm this, but it's interesting anyway.
The tipster left no details on what these obligations are, just that they were worth a lot of money, and very overdue. If you have any information or leads, let me know by commenting here.

Got Dirt? Email Me
If you have dirt on Joyent and want it out there, you should email it to me.
There's no way I'm the only one who's been burned by their lies and incompetence. If you're an employee, customer or supplier with a story be sure to send it through. Perhaps we can gain some insight into their incompetent operations.

Backups
So according to David Young:
My take?
The Thumper is both server, and backup. Moreover, it’s hard to see how a backup of 18TB of data to another physical device would work, in practice. So backing up 18TB of data is too hard for Joyent, but if you look at their website:
Did you know: We manage 282 TB of dataSo, Strongspace and bingodisk represented 6% of their total storage, but they weren't able to back it up. Assuming their accelerator customers make up their other 94%, I wonder how they're backing that data up!
My take?
- Joyent doesn't manage 282 TB of data, which is why they've deleted all mentions of it from their website; and
- Joyent doesn't back up their accelerators

No More Lies
After 10 days of downtime and a truly pitiful explanation, the time has come to hold joyent accountable to their customers. I'll be tracking the lies they told during this outage, and hopefully posting some comments they deleted off their blog.
